The Australian Government Digital ID System (AGDIS) | AGDIS is a secure, convenient, and voluntary system that allows individuals to verify their identity online for accessing online services. It minimises the need for sharing sensitive documents like passports or birth certificates. AGDIS is designed to streamline identity verification processes, ensuring privacy and security for users while enabling efficient access to services. |
Digital Identity | An electronic representation of an Individual which enables that individual to be sufficiently distinguished when interacting online. It is made by an individual at an Identity Service Provider and involves both a process of proofing an individual’s identity and binding credentials to that identity record. |
Identity Service Provider (ISP) | An entity that generates, manages, maintains, or verifies information about an individual's identity to create or manage a Digital ID. This provider plays a crucial role in ensuring that individuals can securely and efficiently verify their identity, facilitating access to various services while maintaining the integrity and privacy of personal information. |
Participating Relying Party (PRP) | An entity that depends on an individual's attribute, provided by an accredited entity, to offer services or enable access to services. |
Attribute Service Provider (ASP) | An entity that verifies and manages attributes, which are additional pieces of information associated with a person's Digital ID. These attributes can include specific entitlements or characteristics, such as the authority to act on behalf of a business |
Identity Exchange Provider (IXP) | An entity that facilitates the interactions and flow of information between identity service providers, attribute service providers, and relying parties within a digital ID system. Acting like a switchboard, the IXP ensures that the necessary data is securely and efficiently exchanged, enabling seamless identity verification and service access for end users. |
